Investment Opportunities
The Government of the United Republic of Tanzania has mandated NDC, on an exclusive basis, to co-ordinate and guide implementation of various projects, whose feasibility studies have been or are being undertaken, under a Southern African Development Community (SADC) Regional Spatial Development Initiative (SDI), known as the Mtwara Development Corridor. Projects identified under the SDI include power generation and transmission, transport infrastructure, telecommunications, water, agriculture, mining, tourism, forestry and fisheries.
NDC has also been exclusively mandated by the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania to initiate the development and regulate Export Processing Zones and Free Ports in Tanzania. |

Investment Policy
NDC participates with equity in the financing of projects initiated either by NDC itself or by third parties.
NDC gives priority to projects producing a positive development impact on the country in terms of value addition, foreign exchange earnings or savings, employment, technological advancement and income generation.
NDC will normally invest in the riskier initial stages of pre-feasibility and feasibility studies. Once viability is proven, NDC will make both equity and loan investment participation in a joint venture structure, with private partners as the majority stakeholders and managers.
NDC will enter into a commercial joint venture partnership with an agreed exit mechanism for NDC equity holding preferably through, but not limited to, sale of shares in the Stock Exchange.
The sponsors of a project seeking the support and assistance of NDC are expected to provide funding of normally not less than 25% of the total cost of the project. |
